Tell your story with me

I'm a Brown University graduate with an honors degree in English and Nonfiction Writing. To me, the college essay process is more than a requirement—it's an exciting opportunity to shape your narrative and discover what you want to say.

I work with students at every stage of the writing journey. Whether you're wrestling with a blank page, refining your ideas, or polishing your final draft, I'm here as a collaborative partner and sounding board. I believe in meeting students where they are and helping them find their authentic voice.

Services

I design my sessions to fit your needs and schedule. Whether you're staring at a blank document or adding final touches to your last draft, we can move forward together at your pace.

My support spans the entire writing process: brainstorming initial ideas, developing your narrative, strengthening your structure, and refining every word. No stage is too early or too late to start working together.

While college essays are my specialty, I'm happy to collaborate on any writing project. Feel free to reach out if you're working on something that matters to you and could use an editor's perspective.

"I can't recommend Rachel enough! Not only is she wonderful with teenagers, but she is also a brilliant writer and editor. Her suggestions were spot on and my daughter, who is fiercely independent, happily followed Rachel's guidance. Rachel was able to elevate my daughter's essay while still allowing my daughter to be the author. And apparently the admissions officers approved: my daughter got in EA to her first choice!"

"Not only did Rachel help me beautify and polish my essay, but she helped me restructure it so it was more nuanced and creative. She guided me well and did not overstep or try to rewrite the essay for me."

— Bea, Student

"My school college counselor was great at providing editing comments, but that only helped students who already knew and personally drafted what they wanted to write about. As an indecisive person who didn't immediately know her essay topic, meeting with Rachel was crucial for me. She helped kickstart me, helped me feel like I had explored some different ideas and landed on one I was really satisfied with. I highly recommend receiving her guidance to choose a topic you're happy with and understand how to actually begin writing it and formatting it."

— Lilah, Student

"My child did not even know where to start with writing their college application essay. Rachel simultaneously broke down the process and built up my kid's confidence so that they were able to craft an essay that they felt great about. Rachel and my kiddo fell into an easy productive groove. I could not be more proud of my kid's admittance to Western Washington University's Honors College, something they could not have done without Rachel!"

— Rachel, Parent

FAQ

How does pricing work?

Every project is different, so we can discuss pricing individually during our free consultation where we can talk about your needs, timeline, and goals before we begin working together.

What does a session look like?

My sessions are typically one hour long. Meeting together might mean brainstorming topics, talking through a rough draft, or fine-tuning your final version. I offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your timeline and deadlines.

Are you a college counselor?

No, I'm an editor. I can't advise you on your chances of getting into specific schools or help with the broader college application strategy. I'm always happy to talk things through, but my focus is on the writing itself.

Do you only work on college essays?

College essays are my specialty, but I work on all kinds of writing projects. If you have something you're working on and think we might be a good fit, I'd love to hear about it.
